Citizens First 5 Event Recap - January 20, 2009
On January 20, 2009, Integrated Service Solutions (ISS) partnered with the Institute for Citizen-Centred Service (ICCS) to host a learning event on the most recent research on Canadians’ perspectives on government service delivery. The Citizens First research series explores satisfaction with government services, recognizing the voice of citizens as an integral part of guiding service improvements.
The event presented valuable insights for service professionals who actively work to embed citizen-centred service principals into their everyday work. The event drew over 130 people, with participation from 12 provincial government ministries and agencies. Also in attendance were organizations such as the Fresh Water Fisheries Society and the Industry Training Authority.
The day began with a warm welcome from ISS Assistant Deputy Minister Lois Fraser, followed by an informative presentation from Karen Prokopec of ICCS and Martin Monkman of BC Stats. The presentation included results, new findings and trends from the national Citizens First research, as well as trends from the B.C. provincial Citizens First data.
An extended morning break encouraged knowledge sharing and networking. Participants enjoyed exploring information booths from government organizations working to improve service delivery to citizens. To close the event, Sophia Howse, who is a project director with ISS, delivered an inspiring presentation on the ‘how’ of integrating citizen-focused research in the design and delivery of service solutions. Both presentations from the event can be accessed through the links below.
