Privacy Sub-Committee - Personal Information Sharing Agreement Guidelines

The purpose of the guidelines is to provide a model of privacy best practices for personal information sharing agreements (ISAs) between governments within Canada.  The guidelines provide an easy-to-follow, organized approach to the consideration and development of ISAs on the part of officials from all government jurisdictions. Specifically they contain a step-by-step outline that takes the reader through six essential best practice milestones that form the lifecycle of the decision-making process starting with identifying needs and concluding with the monitoring of agreements.  In addition to six best practice steps, the guidelines include an easy to follow template.  This tool was developed by the Privacy Subcommittee on behalf of the Public Sector CIO Council comprised of CIOs from federal, provincial, territorial and municipal jurisdictions as a means of providing effective strategies to minimize or eliminate privacy risks within personal information sharing agreements.
